Two police officials in Peja have been suspended on the recommendation of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo.
According to the announcement, the police officials had tried to temporarily release a suspect for illegal possession of weapons who had been arrested and was in the detention center.
The PIK said that it will continue to undertake all investigative actions to clarify the circumstances of this case.
"Last night, the investigators of the Kosovo Police Inspectorate received information from the Kosovo Police about a case where it is suspected that two police officers exceeded their authorizations. According to the initial information received by IPK investigators, it is suspected that the police officials attempted to temporarily release a suspect for illegal possession of weapons who was arrested by the police in Peja and was in the detention center at the Peja police station," it is stated in the notification of the Inspectorate.
