The espionage trial has begun against Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, who are accused of spying for Serbia. The defendants did not plead guilty in court. KOHA has obtained the full indictment for this case, which states that Qerimi has stated that he met with Sërgjan Rosiqi, who is an official of the Serbian BIA, but said that he did not know that he was a spy. Defendant Shabani has defended himself by remaining silent.
The defendants for espionage, Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, made their first appearance before the court where the initial hearing was held on Wednesday.
They did not enter a plea to the charges because the accused Bedri Shabani was not ready to do so, for which the presiding judge, Rrahman Beqiri, postponed the hearing to March 17.
Special Prosecutor, Bekim Kodraliu, said that Shabani and Qerimi have seriously endangered the security of Kosovo with their actions.
"The defendant has seriously endangered and damaged the constitutional legal order and security of the Republic of Kosovo, by also assisting the BIA in creating a false narrative, in order to link the KLA Military Hospital in Mollopolc, Shtime, with the so-called "Yellow House" in Burrel, Albania, allegedly involving organ trafficking, as well as questioning the truth of the Recak massacre by requesting the BIA official and Bogoljub Janičević to undertake operational actions that would cause a widespread interethnic conflict in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo," said Prosecutor Kodraliu.
He also said that Qerim sent Serbia information about KLA members, the names of witnesses for the Special Court, as well as people working in Kosovo's security structures.
And in the indictment obtained by KOHA, it is stated that Shabani has been silently defended in the prosecution, while Qerim has denied the claim that he is a spy for Serbia.
However, it is noted that Qerim has confirmed that he met Sërgjan Rosiqi, an official of the Serbian BIA.
"But the same person then denies knowing that Srgjan Rosic was a BIA official, even though he met with the same person in Serbia and asked him beforehand over the phone whether he had finished the 'morning briefing'! Furthermore, the same person states that he had recently helped Srgjan Rosic with financial means (he had given him the sum of 1.500 euros) as well as with clothing!", the indictment states.
One part of the indictment states that the defendant provided classified information to the Serbian Intelligence Service.
"In this testimony/photo, the defendant has obtained and maintains notes for senior KIA officials, "Barlet Gashi and former director Bashkim Smakaj, and speaks of their official operations, which the defendant, as a former police officer and investigator, knew to be confidential information," the indictment states.
Regarding Shabani, the indictment states that he collected information and sent it to serve the BIA in building a false narrative regarding organ trafficking by the KLA.
"By trying to establish a connection between the KLA Military Hospital in Molopolc with the so-called 'Yellow House' in Albania as well as with the 'Medicus' clinic and send the same fabricated information to the BIA, through its official, Srgjan Rosic, the same also, according to the extracted materials, has also conducted research on the facilities used by the KLA in the MAPS application, then the route used by KLA soldiers, for sending the wounded during the war by drawing maps and photographs and sent the same to the BIA official," the indictment states.
The prosecution claims that there is evidence that Shabani was also active on the day of the terrorist attack in Banjska, where he met a police officer, to whom he gave irrelevant information and complained that he was constantly giving but not receiving information from the police.
According to the indictment, he also had contact with BIA member and former Ferizaj police chief, Bogolub Janičević, who, according to the prosecution, was involved in the Recak massacre.
