Police launch investigation into Quran tearing in Prizren

Kosovo police have arrested a person in Prizren after he tore up the Quran, the holy book of Islam.

The Police Spokesperson for the Prizren region, Shaqir Bytyqi, has informed KOHA that the suspect has not been arrested, and the case is being treated as "incitement of hatred, division or national, racial, religious or ethnic intolerance."

The prosecutor has also been informed about the case.

"Incitement of national, racial, religious or ethnic hatred, discord or intolerance - Prizren 03.03.2025 – 12:10.  Regarding the case, the police units have taken all necessary police actions, a case has been initiated and is being investigated.  "The competent prosecutor has been notified. The case is being investigated," the police report states.
