Durrës has one of the largest beaches in the country, frequented by local vacationers, but recently also by many foreigners.
The wide sandy strip and shallow water up to a few meters from the shore make it the perfect beach for families with children. But the beach stations are far from the standards they must meet to ensure the safety of vacationers.
Watchtowers should be placed every 250 meters and have trained watchmen or lifeguards. The only function performed by the only tower in the Kavaja rock area is to hold the boxes of an activity that entertains the vacationers on the beach, reports TopChannel.
There is no quick help on the beach. There is no signage for the dedicated swimming area either. While after several cases of incidents with water motors, at least in Durrës, the latter have marked the territory from which they depart.
But again the risk is there just in case. The municipality says that on Monday the removal of licenses for private individuals who do not meet the conditions will begin. Until then, let's hope that there will be no more victims on the beaches and sea.
