The Kosovo Correctional Service has announced that it has stopped a smuggling attempt at the Mitrovica Detention Center today. The KCS announced that during the search, correctional officers identified nine balls in the yard, one of which contained two phones.
"During the inspection of the external spaces of the institution, specifically in the yard, officers identified nine balls left over from the prisoners' sports activities. After verification, inside one suspicious ball, two iPhone mobile phones, two SIM cards, and a charging cable were found and seized. This prevented the introduction of prohibited items into the institution," the KCS announced.
The Kosovo Police has been notified of the case and investigative and disciplinary procedures have been initiated.
"The Kosovo Correctional Service remains committed to preventing any illegal activity within correctional institutions and ensuring security in all centers," the KCS announced.
