Two public officials in Pristina arrested, suspected of manipulating the driver's license test

Updated, 21:28 p.m  - The Basic Prosecution Office of Pristina has announced that two people were detained on Monday, on suspicion of the criminal offense of accepting bribes and exercising influence. 

The suspects are public officials. They are suspected of intentionally taking money from a person in exchange for passing a practical driving test. 

The suspects were detained for 48 hours. 

"The detained persons are public officials who are suspected of having demanded bribes from the victim in order for her to pass the practical driving test, which they accepted and for the amount accepted, the candidate passed the test. The suspects have been ordered to be detained for 48 hours, while within the legal deadlines, the State Prosecutor will take the necessary procedural actions to collect evidence. The State Prosecutor informs the public that he remains committed to fighting crime and corruption and that he will take all legal actions to prevent these acts, as well as to bring each perpetrator of these criminal acts to court," the Prosecution announced. 

The Kosovo Police have announced that they have been conducting investigations since April of this year and have been accompanied by special investigative measures. 

"During the operation, important material evidence related to the case was seized. In the presence of the defense attorney, two suspects were interviewed and, by decision of the prosecutor, were taken into custody for up to 48 hours. The police have searched two different locations and identified suspected tools used in the commission of the criminal offense. Investigations are continuing with the aim of fully clarifying the case and bringing those responsible to justice," the Police announced. 
 


Police operation in Pristina, suspected of driver's license abuse

A police operation is being conducted by corruption investigation teams together with the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina.

As KOHA has learned, this operation is being conducted in connection with driver's license abuse.

It is not yet known whether any suspects have been arrested. 

"Kosovo Police, teams for the investigation of Corruption in the framework of economic crimes are carrying out a police operation in cooperation with the competent Prosecution Office in Pristina. After the completion of the operation and reports from the field, other details will be announced later by the competent authorities," the Police statement said.
