Three suspects in Prizren sentenced to one month in pre-trial detention for usury, one allegedly hit police officer and pedestrian

The Basic Court in Prizren has ordered a one-month detention for three defendants, suspected of several criminal offenses, including usury, assault on an official person, and endangering public traffic. 

According to the court decision, FS is suspected of the criminal offense of usury. Meanwhile, BS is suspected of usury in co-perpetration with AD, as well as assault on an official person and endangering public traffic, while AD is suspected of usury in co-perpetration with BS.

According to the suspicions presented in the Prosecution's file, BS and AD are suspected of having, with the aim of illegally obtaining material gain, contracted significantly disproportionate amounts of property in exchange for services, taking advantage of the financial and personal situation of the injured party.

The suspects, according to the court, were caught red-handed on August 18, 2026, accepting money from the injured party, which was allegedly taken in the name of interest. While attempting to evade the police, AD allegedly took the money with him and got out of the car in the village of Vlashnje. The suspects were later arrested by the Police.

In the case of FS, the court says that the suspicions relate to a period from 2020 until the start of the investigation and onwards. He is also suspected of having contracted significantly disproportionate amounts of property, with the aim of unlawfully obtaining gain, by exploiting the financial and personal situation of the injured party.

According to the ruling, BS is suspected of failing to stop on the orders of police officers on August 18 during a police operation to arrest suspects and continuing to drive at high speed. While fleeing, according to the court, he is suspected of hitting a police officer with his vehicle, causing minor bodily injuries, and then continuing towards the village of Vlashnje.

On the way out of the village, as stated in the decision, due to high speed, BS is suspected of having hit a pedestrian, who as a result suffered serious bodily injuries.

The court announced that when deciding on detention, it took into account the material evidence and documents attached by the Prosecution in the request for the imposition of a security measure.

According to the court, the evidence collected up to this stage justifies the well-founded suspicion that the defendants have committed the criminal offenses they are suspected of.
