The Basic Court in Mitrovica has ordered one month of detention for the defendants BH, IP, AS, OB, TR, AB, SH.S. and NR, who are suspected of having committed the criminal offenses of “coercion” and “unauthorized import, export, supply, transportation, production, exchange, brokerage or sale of weapons or explosive materials”.
16 people were arrested on Wednesday in a police operation in south and north Mitrovica, in Skenderaj and Vushtrri, after months of investigations.
Among those arrested is a police officer of Serbian nationality, suspected of organized crime.
"From these four locations we have one person arrested. He is a police officer, whom I have suspended according to the rights and responsibilities that I have. For me it is important that he is a suspect in the organized crime case in which he is being investigated and for this reason he has been suspended, because he has been arrested," stated on Wednesday the Deputy Director of the Police in the North, Veton Elshani.
Police searched 21 locations and seized 9 firearms, 200 rounds of ammunition, various ammunition, 15 mobile phones, two pairs of handcuffs, a knife, gun barrels, gun holsters, and 1 DVR.
