Kosovo Police A car with Serbian license plates was stopped in Jarinje, and during the search, 32 kilograms of drugs were found and seized. 

The police announced that after receiving information, they carried out an operation at the border crossing in Jarinje. In a Mercedes A-Class car with Serbian license plates, 30 packages of a substance, suspected to be marijuana, were found. The total weight was 32.4 kg of drugs. 

The suspect was detained for 48 hours. 

“On March 24, 2023, after receiving reliable information that a vehicle with Serbian license plates is suspected of transporting narcotics. DHTN-Mitrovicë North, in coordination with the Border Police and support from the Technical Crime Unit, carried out an operation at the Republic of Kosovo-Serbia Border Crossing Point in Jarinje. During the implementation of the police operation coded 'SHTEGU' for checks of several suspected vehicles, a Mercedes A-Class vehicle with Serbian license plates was selected for inspection. After strong suspicions were raised, the vehicle in question was sent to South Mitrovica for a more detailed check. During the inspection and control of the vehicle, an additional metal tank was found in its lower part, measuring 160x97 cm and 25 cm deep, which was suspected of carrying narcotics. After opening the tank, a total of 30 packages wrapped in transparent foil, containing suspected substances, were found "marijuana-type narcotics. The total weight of the confiscated quantity is 32.4 kilograms," the Police announced. 

The operation was carried out in full consultation with the prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica. 

"In accordance with legal procedures, two mobile phones have been confiscated and the suspect's vehicle has been seized for further investigations. The suspect, with the initials (NM-Belgrade) after the first investigative actions, has been arrested and, by decision of the prosecutor, has been sent to police custody for 48 hours, while the investigation of the case continues by the Anti-Drugs Unit - North Mitrovica. The Kosovo Police remains committed to ensuring security and order, by resolutely fighting any form of crime, including drug trafficking and illegal activities that endanger the health and safety of citizens.
