A Kosovar in Switzerland is being accused of defrauding a priest with different stories over the years, benefiting from him up to 100 thousand Swiss francs, reports "Zentralplus.ch".
The priest of the Zug Monastery had always helped.
The Kosovar kept coming with stories to ask for money. Sometimes for surgery, sometimes for the daughter's education, sometimes even for buying food. Over the years it was found that all these were frauds.
The 43-year-old Kosovar, a mechanic, had visited the Zug Monastery from 2017 to 2020 regularly. He told about the tragedy in his family and his need for help. This touched the 85-year-old priest. In total, he helped with 100 francs, while he gave the money in full 27 times.
"The priest trusted the Kosovar as if he were his own son. He gave money 27 times over the years, until he reached a sum of 100 thousand francs. After spending his savings, he also borrowed from friends to help the family", writes "Zentralplus.ch".

Among the emergencies that the Kosovar mentioned was the lack of money for check-ups for his wife, who is suspected to be suffering from cancer. Then he told him that his wife had died, while the priest also paid for the funeral. He also paid for the hospital stay or even for the education of the accused's daughter.
"He knew exactly how to manipulate his father and how to put him under pressure, in order to benefit more", says the indictment of the Zug Prosecutor's Office, which requested a prison sentence.
The priest was unable to confirm the stories and the mechanic often presented him with false written documents about the events.
The priest was even warned by Caritas. After the priest had ignored the warning signals, the Prosecution has proposed a lower sentence for the accused, since the fraud was facilitated by the victim himself.

The prosecutor's office requested a fine to be paid for 180 days, but since the accused does not have sufficient income, nor savings or a permanent decision in Switzerland, this cannot be done.
So the mechanic should be sentenced to 180 days in prison, according to the Prosecution. He will have to serve this sentence if he commits any offense within 5 years. However, the Kosovar has compensated for 69 days he spent in detention.
