Four police officers injured in Podujevo, three people arrested for attempted murder

Three people were arrested on Saturday afternoon in the village of Pollatë, Podujeva, after allegedly hitting an official Kosovo Police vehicle with their vehicles, injuring four police officers.

According to the Police report, it is suspected that one of the suspects was in a tractor loaded with illegal wood, while the other was in a vehicle, when they hit the official police vehicle.

According to the police report, after the arrest and interrogation, two of the suspects were taken into custody, while one was released under regular procedure.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina said that the detainees are suspected of two criminal offenses.

"Regarding your question, that after the incident that occurred in the village of Pollatë, Podujeva Municipality, by order of the acting prosecutor from the Serious Crimes Department, two people were detained for the criminal offenses of "Attempted Murder" based on Article 172 in conjunction with Article 28 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo and the criminal offense: "Obstruction of an official person in the performance of official duty based on Article 401 of the Criminal Code", said the spokesperson for the Basic Prosecution in Pristina, Kaltrina Shala.

According to doctors from the Emergency Center in Podujevo, the police officers involved in this accident suffered minor injuries and their condition was stable.

"Last night, at around 19:00 PM, four uniformed police officers came to the scene seeking medical attention. Their condition was stable and there were no serious injuries. After treatment, they were released in a regular procedure. One of the police officers had leg injuries, another only had leg injuries, while the others only had problems with headaches and neck pain," said Mejon Spahiu, an emergency physician in Podujeva.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina announced that the State Prosecutor, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, are continuing investigations regarding this case.

According to the Police report, the incident occurred on Saturday. It is suspected that one of the suspects was driving a tractor loaded with illegal wood, while the other was driving a vehicle, when they hit the official police vehicle.

As a result of the incident, four police officers suffered bodily injuries and received medical treatment.

The suspects were interviewed by law enforcement agencies and, by decision of the prosecutor, two of them were taken into custody, while the other suspect was released in a regular procedure.
