One day after the start of the restoration, the first Albanian school in Ferizaj burns down

The first Albanian school in Ferizaj, which had been converted into a gymnasium, burned on Tuesday morning. This facility is protected by the state as a cultural heritage, the Municipality announced.

The spokesman of the Municipality of Ferizaj, Selim Marevci, has told TIME that the building called "Old Gymnasium" began to be restored on Monday.

"The facility is the first school in the city of Ferizaj. The government included it in the draft budget and it was said that it would be restored. The restoration started on Monday, but then it burned down", he declared.

The Kosovo Police told KOŠA that the fire caused on the "Ramadan Rexhepi" street has been localized and, apart from the material damage, there are no injured persons.

"Around 04:25 we received information that there is a fire incident in an old, non-functional school building on 'Ramadan Rexhepi' street. Teams of police and firemen immediately went to the scene. The fire has been contained, apart from material damage, no injuries have been reported," the police announcement states.
