Buta in custody, accused of drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons

The Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj has filed an indictment against rapper Betim Januzi, known as Buta, charging him with drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The rapper was arrested on September 11 and is currently in pre-trial detention.

Initially, the news that Buta is under detention was confirmed to "Oath for Justice" by Burim Çerkini, Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj.

"He has been in detention for a week or more," Çerkini said.

Meanwhile, in a written response to "Oath for Justice", the Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj indicated that on September 12, they requested the imposition of pre-trial detention by the Basic Court in Ferizaj.

"Referring to your request for information, we inform you that on September 11, 2025, by decision of the State Prosecutor, the suspect BJ was detained for 48 hours due to suspicion that he committed the criminal offense "Unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of narcotics, psychotropic and analogous substances under Article 267 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo and "Unauthorized possession, control or possession of weapons" sanctioned under Article 366 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Kosovo. The State Prosecutor, against the defendant BJ, on September 12, 2025, filed a request for the determination of a detention measure for a period of 30 days at the Basic Court in Ferizaj, due to reasonable suspicion of the above-mentioned criminal offenses," the Prosecution's response states.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Basic Court in Ferizaj, Gentiana Hoxha, confirmed to "Oath for Justice" that Januzi is under detention, a measure that has been set until October 10.

Hoxha announced that an indictment has already been filed against Buta, while the initial hearing has been scheduled for October 1, 2025.

According to the Prosecution, there is a well-founded suspicion that on September 11, 2025, at around 21:00 PM, on "Zenel Hajdini" street in Ferizaj, Betim Januzi "Buta" was in possession of suspected narcotic substances such as cocaine and marijuana without authorization, with the intent to sell or distribute.

According to the Prosecution, a firearm was found on Buta during the search, and ammunition was also found in his apartment.

"There is a well-founded suspicion that on the same date, time and place, he was in possession without authorization, in violation of the law on weapons, in such a way that the police, during a routine check, stopped the BMW vehicle and during the search in his vehicle, a pistol-type firearm was found, with a magazine and 16 9×9 mm Luger cartridges, while,  "During the check, 26 Luger-type cartridges with a caliber of 9×9 mm were also found in his apartment, which were seized by the police," the Prosecution announced.

Naim Ferati, Buta's lawyer, said he could not speak to the media.

"We cannot confirm anything, we are not authorized to speak to the media about this case," Ferati told "Oath for Justice." /OathforJustice
