The Kosovo Police Inspectorate has arrested and recommended the suspension of a police officer for committing the criminal offense of "Domestic Violence".

The IPK has announced that it has received a complaint from a citizen of Gjilan who said that the police officer, her fiancé, has exercised physical and psychological violence against her.

"After receiving this information, based on the preliminary investigative actions carried out and the evidence collected by PIK investigators, a basis for reasonable suspicion has been provided that the police officer involved as a suspect in this case has used violence and threats against the complainant," the announcement states.

The suspected officer has been detained for 48 hours.

"Within the framework of administrative actions and in the interest of the investigation, PIK has also recommended his suspension. Other actions will be taken in accordance with the legal authorizations of PIK and in coordination with the competent prosecutor's office," it further states.
