LH, suspected of serious bodily harm and illegal possession of a weapon, has escaped from the Palace of Justice after being ordered to be remanded in custody during a hearing, confirmed Mirlinda Gashi, spokesperson for the Basic Court in Pristina.
"The Basic Court in Pristina regarding the criminal case against the defendant LH has received information that the same, after receiving the decision to order detention, has managed to escape from the Kosovo Police, who were competent to secure the case," the response states.
Initially, the Basic Court in Pristina, General Department - Criminal Division announces that it has approved the request of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, for the imposition of a detention order against the defendant LH.
"After holding the hearing, the preliminary procedure judge approved as grounded the request of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, for the determination of the measure of detention against the defendant LH and the same was determined to be detained for a period of 1 (one) month. The court assessed that the conditions for the determination of detention have been met, because if the defendant LH is released, the same may be unavailable to conduct the criminal procedure," the announcement states.
According to the Court, the suspect managed to escape from the police officers who were competent to secure the case. They assured that the suspect's escape is not the responsibility of the court.
"The escape of the suspect in this specific case does not remain the responsibility of the Basic Court in Pristina, as the court has undertaken all necessary procedural actions as foreseen by the legal provisions of the KPPRK.
