Indictment for fraud in Dragash, used photocopiers were handed over instead of new equipment

The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren has filed an indictment against a person and a private company for suspicions of misuse and fraud in public procurement in the Municipality of Dragash.

According to the Prosecutor's Office's announcement, the indictment has been filed by the Serious Crimes Department against the defendant with the initials BP, as an authorized person of the economic operator "B. Sh.PK", as well as against the company itself, for the criminal offense of "Misuse and fraud in public procurement".

The prosecution suspects that on December 22, 2023, within the framework of the contract "Supply of 16 photocopiers for schools in the Municipality of Dragash", the defendant failed to fulfill his contractual obligations, delivering remanufactured equipment instead of the new devices provided for in the contract.

According to the indictment, it concerns 16 old, serviced devices, in which new consumable parts have been installed, and not completely new equipment as required in the procurement procedure.

With these actions, the Prosecution estimates that the Municipality of Dragash has been caused economic and budgetary damage, as the remanufactured equipment has lower durability, requires more maintenance and may incur additional expenses.

The prosecutor in the case has proposed to the court that, after the judicial review and the administration of evidence, the defendants be found guilty and sentenced according to the law.
