81-year-old man hit by car in Pirana, Prizren

An 81-year-old man lost his life in the village of Piranë, Prizren, on Sunday night, after being hit by a car. 

The accident was reported to the Police at around 18:30 PM. 

Victim DH died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and detained for further procedures. 

"On 22.03.2026, at around 18:30, a traffic accident was reported on the Prizren-Gjakova highway, in the village of Piranë, Prizren. According to initial information, a pedestrian was hit by a car while trying to cross the road. As a result of serious bodily injuries, the pedestrian DH, a male of about 81 years old, died at the scene, which was ascertained by the emergency medical team. Police units immediately went to the scene and took the necessary investigative actions. The suspect was arrested and, by decision of the prosecutor, was detained for further procedures. By order of the prosecutor, the victim's body was sent for autopsy to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Prishtina. The police are continuing investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident," the spokesperson for the Police for the Prizren region, Shaqir Bytyqi, informed KOHËN.
