Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, at the same time Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dacic, said on Friday that the person who killed a policeman in Serbia in the early hours of Thursday has been killed.

The identity of the person killed was not mentioned in the communique issued by the Serbian authorities.

The authorities in Serbia said on Friday that they were intensively looking for Faton Hajriz, as a suspect in the murder of the Serbian policeman and the wounding of another.

In the communique issued by the Serbian authorities in the afternoon of July 19, the identity of the murdered person was not mentioned.

Hajrizi, a citizen of Kosovo, allegedly traveled through Serbia with the documents of his brother, Artan, who has presented himself to the authorities in Germany - where he is found - that his brother, Fatoni, had stolen his passport.

Since July 6, Faton Hajrizi had been wanted by the Kosovo authorities, after he had escaped from Smerkonica prison.

Authorities conducted checks on both sides of the Drina River, which borders Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, as they suspected that the person who committed the murder may have headed in that direction, Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) reported on July 19.

According to the assistant police director Dragan Vasilevic, helicopters and drones were involved in the search./ REL
