A police officer was arrested in Dubrava, Istog, on Tuesday, under the suspicion that he accidentally shot a 16-year-old family member in his house.
The Police Inspectorate of Kosovo announced that the person was injured in the head. The 16-year-old was sent to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo.
"Investigators of the IPK immediately responded to the call, while relevant police units and the guardian prosecutor also came to the scene. The injured person in this case (age 16 who has a family relationship with the policeman) was urgently sent for medical treatment first to the Peja Regional Hospital and then to the KKUK in Pristina. "Based on the initial preliminary investigations, it is suspected that the case happened at the house of the police officer who, until this stage of the investigation, is suspected of having accidentally fired the official weapon," the announcement states.
The police officer was arrested on suspicion of "attempted murder".
He was detained for 48 hours and suspended from duty.
The Director of Emergency, Naser Syla, told KOĖHA that the minor is in serious condition and is currently in the operating room.
