The municipality of North Mitrovica has not accepted the request of the citizens for the initiative to remove the mayor, Erden Atiq.
KOHA has secured the document that was sent to the initiator group, according to the Administrative Instruction, which provides that the chairman of the municipal assembly, after accepting the initiative for the dismissal of the chairman, must return an answer within five days.
"This request is not accepted by the chairman of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica, because the request is not in accordance with the Administrative Instruction MAPL no. 02/2023 for the removal of the Mayor of the Municipality from his position", says the secured decision.
Nexhat Ugljanin, chairman of the Municipal Assembly, said that the initiative group was notified of the rejection of the request.
"The request has not been accepted, now I have sent them the notification via email, we are based on the administrative instructions of the MLGA", he said.
In September of this year, the Ministry of Local Government Administration published the administrative instruction that enables citizens to remove the mayors of northern municipalities through a petition.
This instruction was drawn up in the framework of the steps that the Government of Kosovo has taken for the full expansion of the situation in the north.
The elections were boycotted by the Serbian population.
