Shimek, a mountain of rare beauty

The show "Jeta" in its next edition brings the rare beauties of the Istog mountains.

Shimek is the mountain that the team visited this week, accompanied by two well-known local runners, Fikret Shatri and Hajredin Ferataj.

The road that takes you to the Istog mountains is now paved.

This allows visitors from various hiking clubs to climb these mountains.

Even for local runners, this is the preferred terrain to do their training runs before marathons.

According to both locals, the Shimek mountain comes alive during the summer season.

The locals there have built huts where they spend the summer months.

Fikret Shatri says he remembers his childhood in this mountainous terrain and the natural foods he consumed in the mountains.

"My entire childhood was here. Every time I come here for a run, I feel nostalgic for this place. I can never forget the dairy products I consumed," he says.

This mountain is over 2000 meters high, and there are numerous hiking trails that are mostly used by marathon runners from all regions of Kosovo.
