Obiliq pays for transportation for students within the municipality and towards Pristina

Vlera Krasniqi, an 11th grade student from Miloševo, attends classes at the "17 Shkurti" gymnasium in Obiliq. 

Nina Ibrahimi, a 12th grade student from the village of Raskovë, also attends classes at the "17 Shkurti" gymnasium in Obiliq. 

They do not have the problem of traveling, because for this, the Municipality of Obiliq has provided two 'combibuses', which transport students to schools in the village.

"I live in Miloševo, Obiliq Municipality. For two years now I have been receiving travel compensation from the Municipality. This is a relief for me and my family. I would like every student to have the opportunity that I have, the travel subsidy and scholarships, today I am also the first to receive scholarships for my success", emphasizes student Vlera Krasniqi.

Student Nina Ibrahimi also says that scholarships and travel subsidies help them a lot. "Our parents cover some of the expenses for us," she says.

Besa Gashi-Dvorani, principal of the "17 Shkurti" school, said that financial support for transportation and scholarships is an incentive and support for students and parents. 

The school has a total of 290 students in 10 classes, 6 in natural sciences and 4 in social studies. 

Most of them use the transportation dedicated only to Obiliq schools. 

Fitore Hashani, director of education in Obiliq, emphasized that the issue of transportation has been practiced since 2013 and suggests that other municipalities do the same.

In addition to transportation between villages, Obiliq also pays for the travel of high school students who attend classes in the capital. But this is only for schools and majors that are missing in Obiliq.

Travel costs are not mandatory for secondary schools. According to the law on pre-university education, municipalities must pay for transportation for compulsory education at distances greater than 4 kilometers.
