More space on social media than on the pitch for Zhegrova at Juve

Zhegrova

Edon Zhegrova appears quite often on Juventus' social media profiles. This, among other things, proves his importance to Juve, but also the club's high expectations of the Kosovar.

However, appearances on the field in the Juventus jersey were quite rare for Zhegrova, since his transfer in early September from Lille.

In three matches for Juventus in Serie A, Zhegrova has played a total of 58 minutes. He has played fewer minutes in the Champions League. He has only played 28 minutes in three appearances. In many of the matches, he sits on the bench and does not play.

Zhegrova is the only offensive player in the Juventus squad who has yet to make a start in the current season. Juventus started the season with Igor Tudor and is now managed by Luciano Spalletti.

Spalletti has hinted that Zhegrova could appear as a substitute for a few minutes on Tuesday in the Italian Cup match against Udinese.

"Zhegrova is coming off a long injury. He is a force, because as soon as he starts playing he can explode at any moment. He has such talent that you never know what he will bring out at any moment. Then people talk about this style of football, comparing it to the old style, saying that the number 10 has disappeared, because it has to be measured by the strength of the teams and the players. Zhegrova needs to expand his range of action and he finds it difficult when the game becomes a constant battle. For this moment I would watch him more during the game," Spalletti said at a press conference on Monday.

The 26-year-old was transferred with great fanfare at the end of the summer transfer window from Lille to Juventus. Juve transferred him, although due to problems in his hip, namely in the lower abdomen, Zhegrova had not played since December 14 of last year.

He made his Juventus debut on September 16 in a 4-4 draw with Dortmund in the Champions League. Although he played little, he did good things on the pitch and showed signs that he will be valuable.

He then played against Verona in Serie A on September 20 and against Atalanta on September 27. He finally played in Serie A against Torino in the derby. He appeared for 25 minutes in the match that ended 0:0.

He did not play for Kosovo in September, and in October he played as a substitute. He got a few minutes against Slovenia in Pristina, while against Sweden in Gothenburg he played from the 71st minute. Last month, when Kosovo achieved historic success by securing the qualifying play-off for the 2026 World Cup, Zhegrova played 27 minutes in Pristina against Switzerland. Against Slovenia he remained on the bench.
