UEFA on Friday engaged Ethics and Disciplinary investigators to examine the song that Alvaro Morata and Rodri sang, "Gibraltar is Spain's", during the celebrations after the triumph in "Euro 2024".
A day later, "Mundo Deportivo" reported on Saturday that the case could end up in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), if UEFA sanctions both players.
If UEFA suspends players for one or more matches, then the case will go to Appeal and may end up in CAS. A final decision will then be made. In European competitions at the club level, political messages are occasionally published, but they are not punished.
One of the cases is the message "Catalonia is not Spain", which appeared in the Barcelona stadium.
UEFA has long since stopped the denunciation against the Barcelona club, which at that time had sent the case to CAS.
