He was immediately released from the camp and returned to Rome to rehabilitate his muscle injury.
Atalanta midfielder Ederson has been invited in his place.
The Roma defender, the best on that wing currently on the 26-man squad called up by Carlo Ancelotti, was injured on Saturday in the 2-1 friendly win over Egypt in Cleveland.
This was announced by the Brazilian Football Federation on Sunday.
Ancelotti should cover that flank with Danilo or Ibanez.
Brazil opens the World Cup on Saturday with a match against Morocco in Group C.

"The magnetic resonance imaging scan has revealed an injury to the adductor muscle on the left side. The Brazilian Football Federation regrets this injury. Wesley is a player who is very much needed in the team and will always be considered part of the team that aims for a sixth World Cup trophy," the Brazilian federation said in a statement.
Ederson will join the Brazilian national team in the United States on Monday.
Five-time World Cup winners Brazil also face Scotland and Haiti in Group C.
