Barcelona striker Lamine Yamal has said he has been the target of racism "thousands of times".
In October 2024, footage showed how Lamine, Raphinha and Ansu Fati were racially abused during Barcelona's match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish Observatory for Racism and Xenophobia stated in March that Yamal and Vinicius Junior are the two players most affected by racially-motivated insults on social media.
"People make racist insults even indirectly, they probably don't understand this. There are many comments that seem to be racist and they don't understand it. I have been insulted thousands of times," Yamal stated in an interview for "Moviestar".
