Granit Xhaka has been named Sunderland's Player of the Year. The award for the best player of the year, respectively for the 2025/2026 edition, was presented to Xhaka by the club's fans.
The midfielder joined Sunderland last summer and led them to a very positive campaign in the Premier League.

Former Sunderland striker Marco Gabbiadini has said that Xhaka was brilliant and hopes the Switzerland captain will stay at Sunderland for a few more years.
Xhaka himself has written that there were those who doubted the move to Sunderland.
"I believed in the vision. And standing here as Player of the Year I feel pride, gratitude and hunger for more," wrote Xhaka, who thanked the fans for their great support from day one.
