"The new Xhaka" could follow Granit's path

Leon Avdullahu

According to statistics, Leon Avdullahu is one of the players with the highest percentage of accurate passes.

Although Granit Xhaka has had his greatest achievements with Bayer Leverkusen, the Switzerland captain is one of Borussia Monchengladbach's most successful signings in the last decade. Xhaka joined Gladbach in 2012 for €8.5m from Basel, before moving to Arsenal for €45m.

Another young Kosovar player who is shining at Basel could follow in Xhaka's footsteps. It's Leon Avdullah. The 21-year-old has left a good impression with his qualities in midfield.

In Switzerland, Avdullahu is considered the new Granit Xhaka. His features are similar to those of Granit Xhaka. He is powerful, has accurate passes, and is also the captain of Switzerland U21. Granit is the captain of Switzerland A.

"Bild" reported on Thursday that Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus is working on the transfer of Avdullah.

"Gladbach could sign a young Swiss star in the summer. Manager Roland Virkus is targeting a super talent who is already being compared to Granit Xhaka," Bild wrote on Thursday.

But Graldbach will face stiff competition for Avdullahu's transfer. Wolfsburg has also expressed interest in Avdullahu in Germany. Recently, Serie A team Fiorentina has also expressed interest. But to have Avdullahu in the team, the clubs will have to dig deep into their pockets. Avdullahu has a long-term contract with Basel. He has a contract until the summer of 2028, while his value on the transfer market is 7.5 million euros.

According to statistics, Avdullahu is one of the players with the highest percentage of accurate passes.

Avdullahu developed as a footballer at Basel, while playing for all age groups in Switzerland.

Switzerland has a lot of faith in his talent. Avdullahu has played 30 games for Basel's first team, scoring one goal. He is also the captain of Switzerland U21. He is a potential candidate to be called up soon by the Swiss national team.

The Kosovo representative has also expressed interest in Avdullah.

The major Swiss newspaper "Blick" reported at the end of January that Avdullahu has not made a final decision.

"He surprisingly remains modest. Whether he will one day play for Switzerland or Kosovo is still open," the major Swiss newspaper wrote on January 26 of this year.
