Wirtz needs time to adapt, says Slot

Manager Arne Slot has said that Florian Wirtzi has been "unlucky" so far not to have scored or assisted in the Premier League.

But Liverpool's Dutch coach has asked everyone to give Wirtz a little more time to acclimatize.

The 22-year-old was transferred for 125 million euros in the summer transfer window from Bayer Leverkusen.

For the German team, Wirtz scored 57 goals and had 65 assists in 197 appearances.

Coach Slot has compared Wirtz to Kevin De Bruyne.

"I'm probably underestimating the best midfielder to ever play in the Premier League, Kevin De Bruyne. He was 21 or 22 when he went to Chelsea. Give Wirtz time. He's been unlucky so far," Slot said at a press conference on Saturday.

Liverpool plays at "Anfield" in the derby against Manchester United on Sunday from 17:30.
