Porto's sporting director Jorge Costa died on Tuesday at the age of 53 after suffering a cardiac arrest, the Portuguese giants announced on their official website.
"In this time of great sorrow, Porto expresses its deepest condolences to Jorge Costa's family, his friends and all those who shared unforgettable moments with him. He influenced generations of fans and became a great symbol of Porto. Jorge Costa's legacy will live forever in the memory of all Porto fans. You will never be forgotten, Captain," the club from Portugal wrote.
Costa has been working as Porto's sporting director since the summer of last year.
Costa has a long career as a footballer at Porto. He played 324 matches, contributing 20 goals and five assists.
