Footballer from Vushtrri, Fatjon Bunjaku, has died at the age of 22 after a tragic accident, his family announced on social media.
The Kosovar striker was part of Elbasan last season.
In Kosovo, he was part of several teams, including Malisheva, Gjilan, Lirina and Trepca.
He also played with Kosovo U21.
FFK consoles the family on the death of the 22-year-old footballer
The Football Federation of Kosovo has expressed condolences to the Bunjaku family on the death of 22-year-old footballer, Fatjon Bunjaku.
Fatjoni died in an accident while playing for Kosovo's U19 and U21 teams.
At club level, he played for Trepça, and was also at Liria, Gjilan, Malisheva, Phoenix and most recently at Elbasan in Albania. He also played for a period in Croatia.
"With deep pain and great sorrow, we received the news of the tragic and untimely passing of your dearest friend, Fatjon Bunjaku. On my personal behalf, on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Football Federation of Kosovo and the entire football community in the country, I express my most sincere condolences for this grave and irreplaceable loss," writes the letter of the president of the FFK, Agim Ademi.
"Fatjoni was much more than a talented footballer. He was an educated, dedicated and ambitious boy, who with his work, character and love for football managed to gain the respect of all those who were lucky enough to know and work with him. His contribution to the clubs where he played and his appearances with the Kosovo U21 jersey will remain part of the precious memories of our football. Fatjoni proudly represented the colors of Kosovo and was an example of an athlete who always aimed to move forward. His departure at such a young age has shocked us all. Kosovar football lost a great talent, while his family, friends and teammates lost a loved one, who left an indelible mark on their hearts. In these difficult moments, we share the pain with you and pray that you find the strength to cope with this great loss."
Numerous football clubs in the country, as well as coaches and players, have also expressed condolences.
