European teams can still boycott FIFA competitions, including the World Cup. UEFA says FIFA's defense of its president, Gianni Infantino, "changes nothing."
In a statement, UEFA said its conditions had not been met in response to Infantino's plan to sell World Cup shares to private investors, despite the plan being cancelled. UEFA is responsible for football in Europe.
"UEFA's member associations were very clear about the conditions surrounding their non-participation in FIFA competitions," UEFA said in a statement, the BBC reports.
"First, the proposals to sell the main competitions should have been withdrawn and secondly, guarantees should be given that such attempts to distort the game in this way will never be made again. These conditions have not been met," UEFA assessed.
UEFA has already said it has lost confidence in Infantino, calling his proposal, known as the FFE, an "ugly, secret and dark deal".

"UEFA made it very clear in its statement on Saturday that it has lost confidence in the presidency of Gianni Infantino. This position remains. UEFA believes that the statement issued by FIFA shows exactly why Infantino should resign. The European Confederation believes that Infantino is trying to avoid personal responsibility by sharing the blame for the failed plan.
