On Monday night, the best football players in Switzerland for 2024 were announced. A total of four awards were given to male footballers and three to female footballers. The gala evening was dominated by Albanians, at least in terms of the awards won by male footballers. Three of the four awards were won by Albanian players.
Granit Xhaka has been named the best player of the Swiss national team for 2024. Ardon Jashari was named the best young player for 2024, while Valon Fazliu was named the best player of the Challenge League, the second Swiss division. Renato Steffen was the only non-Albanian player to receive the award. He was named the best player of the Swiss Super League for 2024.
The ceremony in Bern only confirmed what has been known for a long time – that the influence of Albanians on Swiss football is very large.
Xhaka was named the best player of the national team for the third time in a row. A few days ago, he received the MVP award at the ceremony announcing the best athletes of Switzerland for last year. Jashari is the future of the Swiss national team, while Fazliu has been shining in the second Swiss category for some time.
"Of course, I feel very proud of my Albanian compatriots who tonight, among many professional footballers, received three out of four awards. This motivates all Albanians and gives us a positive feeling that as Albanians we are still very important and have a great influence on Swiss football. I congratulate the three boys on the awards they have won and wish them even more success in the spring season. These individual awards, but also other successes with both clubs and national teams, confirm the importance of Albanians for football in Switzerland," former striker Milaim Rama told KOHĖN. He is the first Albanian to have played for the Swiss national team and is considered to have opened many doors for Albanians in the Swiss state.

Other important names in Albanian football such as Valon Behrami, Blerim Xhemaili, Admir Mehmedi and Albert Bunjaku have already ended their careers. Xherdan Shaqiri has ended his career with the national team, but Albanians nevertheless remain highly influential in the Swiss state.
Granit Xhaka is currently unparalleled in the level he has reached. In addition to leading Switzerland as captain, he has also had peak successes with Bayer Leverkusen, winning the Bundesliga title with a historic campaign. He is currently performing successfully in the Champions League.
Swiss clubs continue to be filled with Albanian players, as do the youth teams and club academies. It is certain that Albanian footballers will win the title in the Swiss Super League.
The current leader is Lugano, whose team features Albian Hajdari, Uran Bislimi, Shkëlqim Vladi and Amir Shaipi.
Basel in second place has Xherdan Shaqiri, Taulant Xhaka, Leon Avdullahu and Albian Ajeti. Lausanne in third place has Alban Ajdini. Luzern is in fourth place, and Donat Rrudhani plays for this team.
The selection of the best was made by the Swiss Football Federation together with the Swiss Football League. The praise for Xhaka, Jashari and Fazliu was endless.
