The well-known name of Shkodran football, Edi Martini, is the new coach of Trepca Mitrovica.
The Mitrovica club, which is aiming to return to the Kosovo Super League in football, on Sunday made the 50-year-old official. Martini has a rich career as a player and as a coach, but not everyone agrees with his appointment to the position of coach of the famous club from Mitrovica.
There are objections regarding a statement by Martin regarding the joint organization of the 21 U2027 European Championship by Albania and Serbia. He has supported this joint organization, while in Kosovo the objections were and continue to be numerous.
The Mitrovica fan group, Torcida, has hinted that it does not agree with Martin's appointment as coach. The fan group, which supports clubs with the name Trepça, published Martin's post on February 4th and wrote "@KF Trepça ??".
On February 4, after UEFA made the Albania-Serbia European Championship official, Martini wrote: "The day has come for us to organize a European Under-21 Championship in Albania. A great achievement, not only in the sporting aspect that we are qualified as a host country, but also in the economic aspect where Albania will be the headline of all of Europe for a month in a row. None of us changes our opinion about them, but organizing a European Championship final is a dream that you see very rarely. Bravo and success to our U21 national team, success Alban Bushi, "Martini wrote on social networks.
He hinted that the joint organization of the European Championship does not change his opinion about Serbia. But his statement is nevertheless causing complications.
Martini is one of the biggest names in the history of Vllaznia. He has played for this team at different times, for many years. He was also at Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany and other teams in Albania. He has played two matches for Albania, while as a coach he has worked at Luftëtari, Laçi, Vllaznia, Teuta e Durrës and is now at Trepça.
Trepca has been led by Emin Baliqi until now. After the defeat suffered on Saturday by Istog, Baliqi resigned. Immediately on Sunday, the Mitrovica club made the engagement of Edi Martin official.
"KF Trepça is pleased to announce the agreement with coach Edi Martini, who will take over the leadership of our team. With a rich career and a philosophy of play, Martini brings experience, discipline and ambition to a strong and competitive team. We wish him a welcome and success in this new journey," the Mitrovica club wrote in a statement.
Trepça was reorganized last summer, ensuring financial and organizational stability, after many years full of problems. It aims to return to the Super League, but has fallen behind in the fight for first place in Group A of the First League. Trepça is ranked third with 26 points, the same as Trepça has 89. Drenica leads with 34 points, while Vëllaznimi is second with 30 points.
