The Serbian coach of Partizan of Tirana, Aleksandar Veselinović, has made an analysis of the Albanian national football team, after the draw for the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup.
Albania and Serbia are in a group and will face each other next year. Veselinović first evaluated Serbia and then spoke about Albania.
"We must be aware that the Albanian national team has progressed drastically. It is a much better team than it was, for example, ten years ago. Team leaders play an important role in teams like Lazio, Napoli, Besiktas... If you analyze a little more deeply, you will understand that it is about players of a higher level. The progress is evident. In Europe, Albania was in a very challenging group, but it was a worthy rival for everyone. In the League of Nations, there was also no favorable draw, while only one point was missing for moving to a higher rank", said Veselinović for "Meridian Sport".
He compared Albania with Bulgaria.
"If we look at other countries from the region, for example Bulgaria, against whom Serbia played in the European qualifiers, it will be understood that Albania is at a significantly higher level. There are more and more representatives who are part of superior European level clubs", added the Serbian coach.
Even the goalkeeper of Serbia, Gjorgje Petrović, said that Albania has progressed a lot.
