Last season, they were a step away from the elite of Kosovo football. They won the First League tie against Dinamo Ferizaj on penalties. But they were stopped in the Super League tie by Feronikeli 74, which has already been relegated from the elite.
And on Sunday, Prishtina e Re achieved the success it had long sought – joining the Kosovo Super League in football.
The team with a special name was declared the champion of Group B of the First League and for the first time was included in the Super League.
Prishtina e Re secured the title after defeating Kika in the final round of the championship.
The team led by coach Elon Berisha finished the championship with 69 points. During the entire season, it suffered only two losses.
Prishtina e Re as a club was founded in 2020. It initially competed in the fourth category of Kosovo football. It then competed in the third level and in the last two years was part of the First League.
The sports director of Prishtina e Re, Sami Boroci, stated that the club's objective since its foundation has been to secure participation in the Super League. But many people did not believe such a thing, says Boroci.
"We are very happy. There is a lot of work behind this success that is historic for us. It has been a sacrifice, a great dedication of a mainly young but very professional staff. The club was founded in 2020 and it has been our vision that we have built since then, to reach the elite of Kosovar football in four to five years. For many people it has been an illusion, we have seemed to have a little excessive ambitions but we have followed the path set," said Boroci.
Team captain Dardan Jashari contributed to the success of New Prishtina.
The 35-year-old is very happy that his team has been promoted to the Super League.
"We are very happy since this team has been established for five years and to achieve this success within five years is a big job. It has been a very difficult edition knowing that we had a direct rival, Vushtrri. Despite the fact that we have created a points gap seven or eight rounds before the championship ends, the points gap has decreased. But with work and dedication we have achieved our goal", said Jashari.
The experienced center back says that Prishtina e Re's goal in the Super League is to create stability.
"I believe that Prishtina e Re's ambitions for the beginning are to stay in the Super League. I believe that Prishtina e Re will be the charm of the Super League. There is talent, young guys, it is a team with a winning mentality."
Prishtina e Re has also had numerous problems with its stadium. For a long time, the team's stadium in
Hajvali is being renovated. Prishtina e Re has played most of its home games at Flamurtari Stadium.
Drenica, from the other group of the First League, has also been included in the Super League. Feronikeli 74 is leaving the Super League, while the other team remains to be determined in the final round.
