Liverpool were defeated 2:1 by Manchester City last round. For the "Reds" it was the eighth defeat in the championship, in addition to 11 wins and six draws.

Liverpool are far behind in the race for the title. They are in sixth place with 39 points. Arsenal are the leaders with 56 points.

The 47-year-old admitted in an interview with the BBC that this is his most difficult season as a coach.

"Most likely. All the other seasons have only had positive things. I don't think I've ever lost two games in a row so far. This is something unusual for me, because I'm not used to it. I don't think it feels like we've only lost two of the last 17 games. For us, even a draw feels like a loss. If we don't secure participation in the Champions League next season, then this season cannot be considered acceptable," said Slot.

Liverpool has also had numerous problems this season with player injuries.

Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp at the big English club.
