The Netherlands took a hit on the eve of the World Cup in soccer.
Attacking midfielder Xavi Simons will miss the World Cup with a knee injury. He suffered the injury in Tottenham's 1-0 win over Wolves on Saturday. He has ruptured his cruciate ligament and will be a major absence for Tottenham as they battle for Premier League survival.
Simons is not expected to return until next year.
