Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has spoken about the controversial incidents that occurred in the Copa del Rey match between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo.
Real advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition.
They won 5:2, but only after extra time. Regular time ended 2:2.
Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Endrick with two goals and Federico Valverde scored the goals for the Madrid team, while Jonathan Bamba and Marcos Alonso scored the goals for the guests.
"I didn't see the match, but they told me that there were episodes that have been repeating themselves for a hundred years. I don't know why they're surprised," the Atletico coach said at a press conference on Friday.
Among the questionable moments, the moment when Mbappe scored for 1:0 was mentioned. It was initially suspected of being a penalty. The referee did not signal at the penalty spot and the game continued. But, before the suspected penalty, there was an interference by Rudiger at the entrance to the area. It was also not signaled for illegal interference. The game continued and on the counterattack, Mbappe scored a beautiful goal for 1:0.
Another questionable case was a handball inside the area by German Rudiger.
Other questionable moments were Endrick's foul on an opponent from behind and no red card was given, while another was when Valverde hit Ilaix Moriba, stopping him from running, writes "Marca" on Friday.
According to Simeone, Real Madrid and Barcelona are heavily favored by the referees.
