It was reported on Monday that Hajduk Split midfielder Ivan Rakitic's match against Šibenik on Sunday will be his last. But Rakitic has denied reports that he has decided to end his playing career. He said he still has work to do.
"Thanks for the messages. Emotions are part of football, but I haven't made any decisions nor have I announced anything officially. I still have work to do before I hang up my boots," Rakitic wrote on social media.
Rakitic has had a rich career as a footballer. He has played for Basel, Schalke, Sevilla, and Barcelona, among others.
He has scored two goals and assisted five times for Hajduk this season. He played 106 matches for Croatia, scoring 15 goals.
With Croatia, he won the silver medal at the 2018 World Cup.
