Martinez's dismissal, "one of the worst decisions ever"

Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was sent off for pulling the hair of Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. United lost 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday night, with manager Michael Carrick calling the sending-off one of "the worst decisions he's ever seen".

Martinez was sent off and will miss the next few games. But United are expected to appeal against the booking.

Noah Okafor scored the first two goals for Leeds in the first half. In the second half, the Argentine defender tried to stop striker Calvert-Lewin, and after a VAR review he was sent off by the referee.

"That decision was one of the worst I've ever seen. He can put his hand in Martinez's face and then our player is sent off. Shocking. I don't even know how to describe it. It's not a push, it's not aggressive. He touches him and he's sent off," Carrick said.
