After a family vacation, Ivan Rakitic has decided to end his career. The 37-year-old has announced his retirement from football and will not play for Croatian club Hajduk Split. Hajduk coach Gonzalo Garcia confirmed the news to “Dnevnik NoveTV”.
"Rakitic is ending his career," said coach Garcia.
Rakitic played 106 matches for Croatia, scoring 15 goals. He had a great career, especially in Spain. He played 200 matches for Barcelona. He also spent two spells at Sevilla, before making his debut for the Basel first team in 2005.
He has won the Champions League once with Barcelona and has four Spanish titles.
With Sevilla he has won the Europa League twice. With Basel he has won a Swiss Cup. He has also won several individual awards.
