Milot Avdyli will have a special match in the Conference League knockout stage playoffs.
Avdyli is part of the Slovenian Celja, while on Friday in the draw held in Nyon, Switzerland, it was learned that this team will play against the reigning champion of Kosovo.
23-year-old Avdyli, who has previously played for Kosovo's youth age groups, joined Celja last summer from Vorskla Poltava in Ukraine.
He played an important role in the fall season, recording eight assists in 27 appearances.
"I wanted to play against Drita in the league stage, and now my dream has come true. The match will be special for me as I will be playing against a club from my country. I have some unresolved issues with Drita, as I have met this team twice when I was part of Trepça and I lost both times," Avdyli said with a laugh, Celje's official website wrote on Friday.
Avdyli developed as a footballer at the Kurda football school, and then played for Trepça '89. From Trepça '89, he moved to Aarau in Switzerland, and then to Vorskla Poltava.
"I'm sure it will be different this time. I know a lot of Drita players, I've also followed their European matches and I can say that there is quality in this team, but it is undoubtedly a team that can be beaten. A very good atmosphere awaits us in Pristina, but I think we will be able to adapt. It is good for us to play the return match in our stadium, where we have ardent support. Before them, we won against AEK Athens and Legia Warsaw in the league stage of the Conference League and in general we have not suffered a defeat at home in this competition. I believe that we will advance further", Avdyli declared for the official website of the Slovenian club.
Celje is the leader in Slovenia's elite championship "Prva liga". In first position, Celje has 43 points after 18 matches, 12 more than Koper and Maribor.
The first match between Drita and Celje will be played at the "Fadil Vokrri" stadium in Pristina on February 19.
The return match takes place a week later at the "Z'dezhele" stadium.
