Vedat Muriqi has said that Turkey is the favorite to face Kosovo in the final playoff match for the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday night in Pristina.
Muriqi has played for several teams in Turkey, leaving his mark with many goals and assists.
He considered Turkey the favorite and mentioned several players from the Turkish national team.
"Due to the fact that Turkey has not qualified for the World Cup for 24 years, I think it will be a difficult match. Turkey is undoubtedly the favorite. Our advantage is that we play at home. They have Kenan, Ardan, whom I also faced against Real Madrid. These are assets of Turkish, European and world football. We want to do our best and play team football, to achieve our goal," Muriqi declared on Saturday in an interview given to "HT Spor".
The Mallorca striker said that he developed as a footballer in Turkey and those teams made Vedat who he is today.
"Facing Turkey gives me mixed emotions personally. In my career, I became Vedat in Turkey. Eight years, of course at Giresunspor, Gençlerbirligi, Rizespor, Fenerbahçe. These teams have made me the Vedat that I am. For my family, Turkey has a special place. I am experiencing mixed emotions," Muriqi emphasized.
