Maresca does not deviate from Guardiola's philosophy at City

Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca has announced that he does not intend to break away from Pep Guardiola's legacy, emphasizing that the philosophy that brought the club great success will remain the basis of his work.

The Italian coach described managing City as an honor and at the same time a great challenge.

Maresca admitted that the team will face some shortages at the start of the season, but expressed confidence that City will continue to compete for trophies in the post-Guardiola era.

Maresca also praised Guardiola.

"I have said it many times, I consider Pep the best coach in the world in the last 20-25 years. It is a challenge. It is a privilege. Maybe the reason why the club decided on me is that they see a similar concept to the previous coach, to always be aggressive without the ball, to control the game and win matches," Maresca said.

The 46-year-old was appointed City coach on June 29, replacing Guardiola, who ended his ten-year adventure with City after the end of last season.
