Berekum Chelsea footballer Dominic Frimpong has been killed in an armed robbery on his team bus. The attack took place on Sunday as the team was returning from an away match in the Ghana Premier League, the country's football federation said.
The incident occurred on the Goaso - Bibiani road, while the team was returning after the match against Samartex in Samreboi.
"During the return trip, our team bus was attacked by a group of armed robbers, who blocked the road to prevent passage. Masked men with guns began shooting at our bus, while the driver tried to turn back. The players and staff fled into nearby bushes to hide," the club announced.
20-year-old Frimpong was killed during the attack.
