Leverkusen secures semi-final spot after dramatic win

Just like on many occasions last season, Leverkusen once again decided a match in extra time on Wednesday. 

Leverkusen was trailing 2-0 to Cologne in the quarter-finals of the German Cup, but equalized and won 3-2 in extra time.

Damion Downs in the tenth minute of first-half stoppage time and Linton Maina in the 54th minute scored for the visitors to make it 2:0. 

But Patrik Schick saved his team from elimination. 

Çeku scored in the 61st and 96th minutes to secure extra time for his team. 

The reigning German Cup winners won with a 98th-minute goal scored by Victor Boniface. 

Granit Xhaka completed the match for Leverkusen, while Leart Paqarada joined the guests in the 72nd minute. 

Leverkusen is the second semi-finalist, after Stuttgart.
