Lille will play away against Stade Brest on Saturday at 21:00 PM. All other matches of the 33rd round, the penultimate round of the French championship, will be played at the same time.
Lille is fighting for a place in the Champions League next season, but will once again be without one of their best players, Edon Zhegrova.
An injury that was expected to heal in a few weeks turned out to be very serious for the Kosovo star.
The 26-year-old played his last match on December 14 last year. He had only appeared for a part in the championship match against Marseille. But it's been five months now since Zhegrova has not played. Lille have given several dates for his return, but that hasn't happened yet.
And on Friday, coach Bruno Genesio warned that Zhegrova would not play in the final match either.
"There is nothing new. I think we will not see Edon Zhegrova again this edition. There is little chance in any case," Genesio said at a press conference on Friday.
Zhegrova has problems with her adductor muscles. It's a problem that has become quite concerning in football.
This was expected to be Zhegrova's breakout season, but it was cut short. The first half of the season was very good for him. Zhegrova had four goals and one assist in 12 appearances in the French championship. He was especially brilliant in the Champions League, scoring four goals and one assist in nine appearances. He was even named man of the match against Real Madrid, which Lille won 1:0. He also performed well against Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
Lille holds fifth place with 57 points. Monaco is third with 58 points, while Marseille is in second place with 59. Paris secured the championship title much earlier.
Many teams have been and are interested in Zhegrova. But the priority for him is to return to the pitch. And transferring after an injury that kept him out of the field for a long time is not always the most favorable move.
