When did Vedat Muriqi obtain a Turkish passport?

Fenerbahçe requested on Wednesday from the Turkish Football Federation that Vedat Muriqi be recognized as a domestic player, as the Kosovo striker holds a Turkish passport.

Muriqi obtained Turkish citizenship in 2015.

"Fenerbahçe is said to be awaiting the decision from the federation and if the request is approved, Vedat Muriqi will play as a local player. Fenerbahçe will make changes to the squad plan if Verat Muriqi wins the right to play as a local player. Born in Prizren, the player holds Kosovar and Albanian passports, and obtained Turkish citizenship in 2015 while playing for Giresunspor. The experienced footballer's official name is registered as Vedat Muriç," writes Turkish media outlet Ajanspor.

Muriqi made his debut for Fenerbahçe on Tuesday night, after his return.

He played from the 77th minute for Fenerbahçe against Sturm Graz, in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Muriqi began his career in Kosovo with Liria. He was born in Prizren. He later played for Teuta Durrës and Besa Kavajës, before joining Turkish side Giresunspor in 2014. In Turkey, he also played for Gençlerbirligi and Rizespor, and spent one season with Fenerbahçe.

Muriqi played eight matches for Albania U21 before joining Kosovo.

With the Kosovo jersey, Muriqi made his debut in the match against Ukraine on October 9, 2016.
