The Kosovo national team has achieved its highest ever ranking in its history in the new FIFA rankings, which were updated on Thursday (September 18, 2025).
After the victory over Sweden at the "Fadil Vokrri" and the loss to Switzerland in Basel, a match they played this month for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Kosovo is ranked 91st, moving up three places from the last ranking (94). The "Dardans" have 1262 points.
In the group where Kosovo is part, after two matches, Switzerland has six points, while Kosovo is second with three. Sweden and Slovenia have one point each.
On October 10, Kosovo hosts Slovenia in Pristina, while the "Fadil Vokrri" is expected to be full after all tickets were sold out in a few hours. Three days later, Kosovo travels to Sweden.
Meanwhile, in the top ten, Spain has taken first place, while France has taken second. Argentina has dropped from first place to third.
Fourth is England, followed by Portugal, Brazil, the Netherlands, Belgium, Croatia and Italy.
Wins over Gibraltar and Latvia lift Albania two places in FIFA rankings
Albania has risen two places in the updated FIFA rankings after the September matches. The "Red and Blacks" are ranked 66th.
Albania, led by Sylvinho, won both matches in September.
On September 4, they defeated Gibraltar in a friendly 0:1, while five days later, they triumphed over Latvia with the same result in the "Air Albania" match, a match valid for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
After five matches, England have 15 points in first place, Albania have eight in second place, while Latvia and Andorra are in fourth and fifth place, with four and no points respectively. Serbia is third with seven points and one match in hand.
On October 11, in Leskovac, Albania faces Serbia.
